Addalaf Terms of Use
Effective date: October 8, 2026 · Version: 1.0
These Terms are an agreement between you and Heartful Robots LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, 850 Burton Road, Suite 201, Dover, DE 19904 ("we", "us"), about your use of Addalaf. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use Addalaf. Important: section 14 requires disputes to be resolved by individual arbitration rather than in court, and waives class actions, unless you opt out within 30 days.
1. The most important thing: you decide what you say
Addalaf suggests. It does not approve. Every joke Addalaf writes is a suggestion for you to consider. Before you use any of it, you must judge for yourself whether it is accurate, appropriate, fair to the people it mentions, and right for your audience. You are solely responsible for what you say, write, post or perform, including any consequences with your audience, your employer, your clients or anyone you mention. Addalaf is not a reviewer, editor, lawyer or adviser, and a suggestion appearing in Addalaf does not mean we consider it safe or suitable to use.
2. Who can use Addalaf
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for activity on your account.
3. What Addalaf does
Addalaf uses artificial intelligence, provided by Anthropic or Google, to write humour suggestions based on what you tell it. You should know that AI-generated suggestions:
- can be wrong — they may misstate facts, misread your speech, or misunderstand your audience;
- can miss your boundaries — we work hard to respect your settings and a fixed safety floor, but no filter is perfect;
- may not be original — a suggestion may resemble an existing joke, and other users may receive similar suggestions;
- can land badly — humour depends on context only you know.
Treat every suggestion as a first draft.
Addalaf will not produce certain material whatever your settings: material demeaning people for protected characteristics, sexual content, jokes aimed at a named person in the audience, and jokes about a bereavement, illness or job loss you've flagged. We may change how the service works, add or remove features, and decline any request.
4. Your content and who owns the jokes
Your content stays yours. You own what you put into Addalaf: your profile, speeches and edits. You give us permission to store, copy and process it, and to send it to our service providers, only to run Addalaf for you, keep it safe and improve it as described in our Privacy Policy. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the content-free records our Privacy Policy describes.
The suggestions are yours to use. As between you and us, we give you any rights we have in the suggestions Addalaf writes for you, and you may use them freely, including commercially. Please understand two limits: under current US law, text written entirely by AI may not be protected by copyright, so you may not be able to stop others using similar material; and because suggestions are not exclusive, we cannot promise no one else has or will receive a similar joke. Your own edits and creative choices are more likely to be protected.
You must have the right to share what you upload. Only paste speeches and details you're allowed to share. If a speech contains confidential information belonging to your employer or a client, check you're permitted to process it with an outside tool first.
5. Using Addalaf responsibly
You agree not to:
- use Addalaf to create material that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or that violates someone's privacy or intellectual property;
- try to get around the safety floor or the AI provider's safeguards;
- access other users' data, probe or overload our systems, or scrape, copy or resell the service;
- use Addalaf or its output to build or train a competing AI product;
- share your account or create accounts by automated means.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
6. Testing and early versions
While Addalaf is in testing, it may change, break or lose data, and we may end the test at any time. Free test access does not entitle you to a paid plan or price later.
7. Paid subscriptions [complete before paid launch] To be completed before launch
[Price, billing period and currency. That the subscription renews automatically until cancelled. How to cancel in the Apple or Google store settings, and that cancelling stops the next renewal. Free trial terms and when the first charge happens. Refund policy. That purchases made through Apple or Google are governed by their terms and refunds go through them. How we notify you of price changes.]
8. Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions about Addalaf, we may use them without owing you anything.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy, /legal/privacy, explains how we handle your data and forms part of these Terms.
10. Ending your account
You may stop using Addalaf and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if required by law, or if we stop offering Addalaf; where reasonable, we'll give you notice. Sections 1, 4 (ownership), 11–14 and 16 survive.
11. Disclaimers
Addalaf is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that Addalaf will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any suggestion will be accurate, original, appropriate or well received.
12. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, reputation, engagements or data, arising from Addalaf or anything you say or publish using it; and our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. Some states do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
13. Your responsibility to us
If someone makes a claim against us because of material you chose to say, publish or perform, or because you broke these Terms, you will cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
14. Disputes and arbitration
If you have a problem, email us first at support@addalaf.com; we'll try to resolve it informally within 30 days. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Please read the rest of this section carefully: it affects your legal rights.
Arbitration. If a dispute isn't resolved informally, you and we agree to resolve it by binding individual arbitration, not in court. Two exceptions: either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court, and either of us may ask a court to stop misuse of intellectual property. The arbitration will be run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, before one arbitrator, by video or in the county where you live. We will pay the fees the AAA's consumer rules assign to businesses. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section.
No class actions. You and we may bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or member of any class, collective or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not combine claims or grant relief to anyone other than the individual party. If this waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim goes to the courts below, not to arbitration.
Many similar claims. If 25 or more similar claims are brought by or with the help of the same lawyers or organisation, they will be handled in batches under the AAA's mass-arbitration rules. [Attorney to finalise.] To be completed before launch
You can opt out. You can reject this arbitration agreement by emailing support@addalaf.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, saying you want to opt out. Opting out changes nothing else in these Terms.
Courts. Any claim not subject to arbitration will be decided in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and both of us consent to their jurisdiction.
15. App store terms [complete before store launch] To be completed before launch
[If you downloaded Addalaf from Apple's App Store or Google Play, these Terms are between you and us only, not Apple or Google. Apple's minimum end-user terms (Apple is not responsible for the app or its support; Apple is a third-party beneficiary; etc.) to be inserted here.]
16. General
We may update these Terms. For material changes, we'll notify you by email or in the app before they take effect; continuing to use Addalaf afterwards means you accept them. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. These Terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Addalaf. You may not transfer them; we may transfer them as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business.
